Many of the opportunities listed on the Volunteer Connection website can accomodate groups of volunteers, if you and your friends/co-workers/classmates wish to attend and work together. By selecting "yes", you limit your search to include only those opportunities that allow for groups. There are several types of volunteer opportunities depending on the amount of commitment you can/wish to offer. By checking the boxes above, you can narrow your search to include only those types of opportunities that interest you. You must select at least one. Ongoing opportunities: Ongoing opportunities require volunteers on a regular basis (weekly, biweekly, etc.). Scheduling should be arranged once you have contacted the agency that sponsors the opportunity. One-time opportunities: For one-time opportunities, you will arrange a convenient time to volunteer, but should not be expected to commit to attending regularly. Special events: Special Events are any events arranged by a local agency/organization. They involve a pre-determined date and time, and will appear on the 'Event Calendar', accessible from the Volunteer Connection homepage. Note that any date that has an event scheduled will appear circled on the calendar. Courses: Courses are any service-learning opportunities that serve to educate participants about the community and/or social issues. The opportunities listed on the Volunteer Connection website relate to one or more of the issues listed above. By selecting specific issues, you will limit your search to include only those opportunities that involve volunteer work related to any (not all) of the issues selected. Note that in order to search by specific issues, you must uncheck the "All Issues" box above.
